DMI

Child undergoing Dynamic Movement Integration (DMI) therapy with two therapists, one supporting her and the other guiding her in reaching a colourful ribbon at a sensory gym.

Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a therapeutic technique used to improve automatic postural responses and promoting progress towards developmental milestones.

The goal of DMI is to provide a specific active motor response from the child to a defined dynamic exercise. DMI stimulates neuroplasticity to facilitate new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones.

Who would benefit from DMI?

Children diagnosed with any type of motor delay including conditions such as;

  • Down Syndrome

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Global development delay

  • Hypotonia

  • Genetic disorders

  • Acquired brain injury

DMI focuses on:

  • Gross motor skills

  • Gradual progression

  • Alignment and postural control

  • Range of motion

  • Balance

  • Functional movements

  • Modifying abnormal patterns of movement

  • Global development
