Managing Director’s comments
Our not-for-profit ethos means any surplus is reinvested to improve access to therapy. These values guide everything we do. Read more about our values
"After 2024-25's modest profit, 2025-26 was a year of significant growth. Turnover rose 23% to £439,925, and we invested in our team, with 66% of turnover going to staff. On a provisional basis we estimate a profit for the year of around £14,500, a 3.3% margin, up from 2.2% last year. That is after £17,180 of extraordinary costs. These figures are unaudited management figures, and we will update this page when the final accounts are signed off.
This was the year our expanded team took shape, with Karen's Speech & Language Therapy service adding a valuable complementary service, and Verity's Occupational Therapy provision growing rapidly. We also continued to give back, with £975 in charitable donations and £11,283 in free or discounted services, mainly free initial sessions and reduced travel charges.
The current year, 2026-27, started with a milestone. In July we opened our Occupational Therapy centre at Lakelands, Stanway, giving children in North Essex more local access to therapy. Emily has joined Verity as part of our expanding OT service, which includes much sought-after EHCP assessments. Our neuro-specialist Physiotherapists continue to work near full capacity, and Niamh joined us to replace Lara. We have also added Psychodynamic Counselling at Lakelands, with Ellen joining us in April. We have invested in administration staff, systems and our online presence, and in the coming year we plan to widen access further across the region, while keeping a close eye on cashflow.
As a not-for-profit, every pound of surplus is reinvested in expanding our services, providing equipment and improving access to therapy. I look forward to reporting a larger surplus next time, and to giving more to the charities and causes that support children and families in our community."
